Part-time Entrepreneurs

Todays economy is characterized by is a lot of insecurity in the workplace. People are becoming aware of the fact that job security is now really a thing of the past. Some have replaced job security with the idea of employment security. Employment security is a concept that states that if you concern yourself with being a valuable person and employee, someone that is of value to an employer, you may not be guaranteed to keep your job but you will most certainly be able to get another one. To a large extent this will probably hold up in many situations. However it still assumes an employer - employee relationship.

The original relationship between the employer and the employee will probably be around for a long time. However in the future it will not be as commonplace as it is today. People who used to work in a single department in a single function for most of their professional lives are now getting used to working more on a project by project basis. In most situations they are still on the same company's payroll, however this is already starting to change.

Many employers are starting to outsource some of the work that was traditionally performed by employees to freelancers and small businesses. The disadvantages of having people on the payroll are starting to weigh in on their hiring decisions. With today's high speed of technological change the necessary expertise to perform certain functions can literally change from year to year. In some areas it's even more extreme. In many of these cases it's simply easier and cheaper to hire different people on a limited time basis instead of continuously having one employee trying to keep up with all the different tricks of the trade.

This trend will have far reaching consequences for todays workforce. Even the more experienced employees will have to stay sharp. They can't sit on their laurels anymore because they will continuously have to prove their worth in new situations, more now than ever before.

Some consider this a huge threat to their career. The truth is, they probably should. Then again, some seem to be adapting to this phenomenon by looking at the opportunity that this brings them. More and more people today are starting their own part time businesses. Many do this while still working on their day job, either full- or part time. Scott Adams, author of the famous Dilbert comic, identifies this trend in his book "The Dilbert Future". He claims this trend will become more prevalent in the years to come. Many of these newborn entrepreneurs start businesses that perform a function that was formerly performed by an employee. Sometimes people even come back to their original employer who has now become their customer.

Everybody knows running your own business can make you more money. There are a number of reasons for this. Of course you are probably more motivated and more results oriented than you would be working for someone else. You can also control your overhead better. Larger companies are not as efficient as they should be in many areas. Company policy sometimes drives up operating costs significantly. Certain companies hand out cell phones and laptops to all employees without taking proper notice of the need for such items. Also employees are less aware of many costs and business expenses. The bottom line is simply not a priority for them. If they had to pay for everything out of their own pocket this would probably be very different. The fact is: when you are in you're own business you have to keep a very close eye on your bottom line or you'll probably be out of business in no time.

This raises questions for many people who currently hold a job as well as the people they work for. Which functions will continue to be performed by employees and which jobs will be outsourced? It would be hard if not impossible to make an easy distinction at this point. Some companies may choose to retain employees for the same jobs that are outsourced by other companies. Each may have their reasons and who's to say what's right. It will depend on many different factors like: the importance of the job for that particular business, the ability to attract the right people and the company's culture. Nobody could accurately predict what the situation will be ten to fifteen years from today.

One thing is for sure though: for many of us it will be vastly different than our current situation. The question is: Are you ready for it?

How to Choose Affiliate Programs

One of the easiest and most lucrative ways of making money online is to promote other peoples products by becoming their affiliates. The word affiliate is defined as a website that directs traffic to another website in exchange for a pre-determined fee. Most successful online merchants use affiliate programs to promote their sites.

Affiliate programs can be very profitable, but you must be careful, as there are a lot of scams. Considering the overwhelming number of affiliate programs available (just do an online search for *affiliate programs*), how can you choose legitimate ones that will work for you?

If you set some basic criteria, it will make it easier to find programs that suit your needs. Some helpful tips for setting those criteria are listed below.

COST FOR JOINING: Any affiliate program that you are interested in joining should have no start up fee. There are thousands of affiliate programs out there to choose from that are free.

COMMISSION PERCENTAGE: The affiliate program should have a generous payment structure, no less than 25% commission. Since you are doing the hard work of promoting someone elses product, your commission should be a substantial one.

CUSTOMER SUPPORT: You must feel comfortable and satisfied with the service and support you get from the program. A high-quality affiliate program appreciates its affiliates and the importance of its customers. Since you are sending prospective buyers to their site, you should be particular about the quality of their customer service.

TRACKING SYSTEM: Make sure you can access your sales statistics and are comfortable with the information presented. The system that is used should be well organized and provide up-to-the-minute tracking information.

BELIEVE IN THE PRODUCT: One of the fundamental rules of selling is that you must have confidence in the product you are selling. Do not waste your time trying to promote something that you are not interested in or have no knowledge of.

PRODUCT RELEVANCE: Before you join an affiliate program, identify who your customers are and what products they might buy. Once you identify your niche market, it will be much easier to find products and services to match it. For instance, if your site is all about arts and crafts, you should promote products and services related to arts and crafts.

When you have chosen the affiliate program you want to join, go to their website and fill out the online application to become a member. The application will ask you for personal information (name, address, phone, email address, payment method, etc.). It will also ask you for information about your website (URL, site name, description of content, etc.). Additionally, there will be a service agreement that you must agree to.

Once the affiliate network approves your application, you can start choosing the programs that you are interested in. After you have made your choices, the merchants in charge of the programs will review your site. If your site is approved, you will be shown how to post the appropriate links.

Once this is all set up, you can get to work on setting up your site, marketing it, and waiting for the money to come in. Remember, the key to start actually making money from your affiliate programs is to promote, promote, promote!

20 Sure-Fire Ways To Get People to Link to Your Web Site

1. Offer other web sites free content to post on their web site. Include your link on all of your content. The content should related to your web site because it will be in front of your target audience.

2. When you visit a web site you've enjoyed a lot, write a review for the site. Write about the benefits you gain from the web site. Tell them they can publish it on their web site if they link to your web site.

3. Allow other people to publish your e-zine on their web site. Include your web site's ad and link in each issue you publish. This may also help you increase the number of people that subscribe to your e-zine.

4. Market your web site as a free web book. Design your web site with a title page, table of contents, chapters, etc. Just allow other people to give away the web book by linking to your web site.

5. Give your visitors an instant article directory. Tell your visitors they can instantly add a free article directory to their web site by linking to yours. Just place your ad or banner ad on top of the article directory for your main web site.

9. Create your own award site for other web sites. Give the winners a graphic or text link to place on their web site when they win. This will link your web site to theirs and draw more traffic to your web site.

10. Are you an expert on a particular subject? Offer people free consulting via e-mail if, in exchange, they either link to your site. People will consider this a huge value because consulting fees can be very expensive.

11. When you purchase a product and it exceeds your expectations e-mail the business a testimonial. Make sure your statement is detailed. Give them permission to publish it on their web site if they link to your site.

12. Create a directory of web sites on a specific topic. Give people the option of adding the directory to their web site by linking to it. Put your business ad at the top of the directory's home page.

13. Exchange content with other web sites. You could trade articles, top ten lists, etc. Both parties could include a resource box at the end of the content.

14. Allow people to download software at no charge from your web site, if they link to your web site. The software could be freeware, shareware or demos.

Let's Get Started Making Money!

Two of the biggest challenges that MLM distributors face are understanding HOW to build an MLM business fast and effectively . . . and then actually being able to do it! Lots of books and tapes are available on this very subject. If you've looked at many of these materials, you might be more confused than ever, so I thought it would be useful to re-visit some of these concepts with you --- I say, "revisit" because I am assuming that you have already been presented with a model of how to build an MLM organization.

Some time ago, I interviewed a master recruiter in MLM named Kelly Schnorenberg. Kelly is a no-nonsense kind of a guy, who is industry-renowned for "bringing home the bacon." "I keep it real simple" he said. "I do three way calling with my new recruit, quickly working through the names list that he puts together his first day in the business.

"The purpose of the first 3-way call is to take the prospect's initial temperature. After a brief conversation, I ask the prospect, 'If I could show you a way to make a full-time income on a part-time basis during your first 30 days in the business, an income that would not interfere with your current source of income, on a scale of 1-10, what would your level of interest be?'"

Kelly, being an excellent sifter of people, simply thanks them for their time if they are a "3" or less. If the prospect indicates openness to an opportunity, then Kelly follows with a fax and a firm time to check back for a clarification. Then the prospect is 3-wayed into a bridge call with dozens, if not hundreds, of other prospects to hear the "Live Guest Presentation Call."

As soon as the presentation call ends, Kelly calls the prospect back, and it's decision time. As you follow this, you realize the immediacy of this system --- fast and effective. It's definitely a winning formula for people who want to create a full-time big-time income.

As I have looked at, and worked with, this system myself, I am delighted by several benefits included its main features. The system actually accomplishes four things: it creates credibility; it is fantastic training for the new person; it will grow a business rapidly (at least 2 out of 10 will do the business on average); and it shows the new person that he doesn't have to be a salesperson. The new recruit does not need talent (yet) or a complete understanding of anything --- neither the product knowledge nor the five points of the comp plan. The new recruit also need not have supreme confidence in himself or his abilities.

Here's really all he or she DOES need:

A phone with 3 way calling features; A sponsor or upline person willing and able to "buddy up on those 3-way calls; Access to a fax machine; A bridge live-call system with effective "Live Guest Presentations" held frequently enough to service the "Access to training which can take the recruits to the next level;" An effective website from which forms can be printed and details about the program can be reviewed; A list of warm bodies with some potential to be attracted to the program.

I need to add that, for some part-time MLMers who want to proceed slowly with an emphasis on product-consumption, (we generally refer to this system as "Retail to Sponsor") participation in the 3-way-calling system would probably require more commitment than they would be willing to make. In this case, what I like to remind people is: "Different strokes for different folks." Some people aren't really committed enough to their businesses to work their schedules around multiple phone calls per day. Since we are all free agents, it's OKAY to get rich quickly or slowly (or for that matter, not to get rich at all).

I'd like to offer up a few additional considerations that would be very helpful if you'd like to simplify your approach and plug in to this no-fail system:

1. Choose your sponsor carefully, for obvious reasons;
2. Budget some phone money;
3. Get organized and get an organizer;
4. Re-evaluate your current schedule, and free up some time if necessary;
5. Eat right, sleep right, and be healthy (you'll have better phone energy);
6. Put a mirror in front of your phone station, and look cheerful;
7. Be positive, and don't take any rejection personally;
8. Put your dreams list together, and think BIG.

I am so proud to be part of this industry, because I truly believe it is the only business which offers the brass ring equally to everyone who has the desire and intent to be successful. Good luck in getting started --- whether you're starting from scratch --- or starting on your next million!

Cover Letters

I will routinely advise new writers to make sure their cover letters are professional in tone. All additional correspondence with an editor should be similarly professional.

There are a few other details regarding a cover letter that may be of interest. For instance, if you can't say what needs to be said in one page, you need to say it again. It is bad form to send a cover letter that is longer than one page. The person you are sending the cover letter to may make a judgement about your potential based on the first 20 seconds of your cover letter. If your cover letter is not concise and professional, the letter may be put aside without further consideration. One thing that may help in keeping your letter concise is to work at keeping your sentences short. Twelve to fifteen words should be the target word count for sentences in your cover letter.

There are also certain fonts that you can use to instill a contemporary feeling (such as Arial and Verdana) while there are more traditional fonts that may be used in other instances (such as Times New Roman). Avoid the use of obscure font choices, you want your letter to be readable and the use of these fonts or extensive special formatting can actually detract from your presentation.

When writing your letter make sure to avoid the use of words and phrases that aren't routinely found in daily conversation. Just because your letter is professional doesn't mean that it morphs into something that is less than conversational. You should be able to read your letter out loud and have it sound very much like your normal language and vocabulary use.

Try to take a 'less is more' approach to your cover letter. As mentioned earlier choose one font, keep it simple, no more than one page and use black ink on clean white paper. If the color or font is distracting to the reader it is less likely to gain a fair hearing. Unlike most writing, cover letter writing relies on clarity and that means being concise.

Beyond the construction of the letter, you should include a paragraph dedicated to the summary of your literary work. You should also include a marketing summary that simply states why your work is unique and marketable.

Your letter should express appreciation to the publisher for the time they spend with your manuscript.

One final tip is to be patient. Allow the material to go through proper channels. It can take a few weeks or as much as a year to receive correspondence from the publisher. If you contact them before the end of their stated consideration timeframe, it may decrease your chances of acceptance.

Idiotic Human Behavior Traced To Greenhouse Gases

An innovative study by an environmental scientist attempts to explain the recent uptick in idiotic human behavior. According to the resourceful researcher, the likely culpret is the abundant supply of greenhouse gases. As a result of their ascendance, there is simply not enough oxygen left in the atmosphere for the human brain to function at the usual level.

He reasons that the principal greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide, is frequenly derived from carbon monoxide, the toxic effluent of tailpipes and other smokestacks. To become the dioxide version, the monoxide must add an atom of oxygen, which, for lack of other alternatives, it removes from the atomosphere.

To make his determination, the scientist measured the percentage of oxygen currently available for general breathing and the amount of the same invigorating substance in a sealed time capsule that was buried during the 1950s, a time, history tells us, of an extraordinary degree of human sanity.

By comparing the two samples, the investigator was able to determine that there is significantly less oxygen in todays atmosphere.

Commenting on the finding, George Bush said, I disagree with the finding, and I'll tell you why. Today I can think just as well as I could in 1950.

Dick Cheney remained committed to the present course, saying, Don't pay any attention to these environmental reactionaries. They're bad for the economy. And, if you think were dumber now, wait till were too dumb to notice. Then the problem will be solved.

On the other hand, Arlen Spector, R-PA, noted, I have actually detected a noticeable slowdown in the intellectual activity of Congress. When I first came to Washington, I can remember an occasion or two when I actually heard an intelligent argument.

Tom Attea, humorist and creator of http://NewsLaugh.com, has had six shows produced Off-Broadway. Critics have called his writing "delightfully funny," "witty," with "good, genuine laughs" and "great humor and ebullience."Morgan Blog98505

Can You Succeed Without An Affiliate Marketing Progam?

You've seen them. The websites that tell you they'll make you rich and allow you to tell your boss exactly what you think - as long as you give them some money first, that is!

They can be very tempting. After all, who wouldn't pay $49 if it meant learning how to make thousands a week? Most of them assure you that without their help, you have no chance of becoming a successful affiliate marketer. But is that true? Or is it possible to work out what to do on your own?

It can be argued that yes, it is possible. After all, what do these programs really tell you? That it's a good idea to build a website? How to drive traffic to your website? How to write a good sales pitch? There are some who would say these things are just common sense. Most people now realise you need a website to make money on the internet, and there are websites that tell you how to get traffic and write good copy for free.

So why do so many people keep spending money on affiliate programs?

One good reason is to save time. It is possible to become a successful affiliate marketer without help, but you'll make mistakes along the way. A good affiliate marketing program will tell you what to do and where to do it. The author will already know the most effective ways of generating sales, and they'll pass that information on. The money you spend on an affiliate marketing program could therefore be earned back in the first week, as you save the money you might have spent on ineffective marketing techniques.

A second reason is because setting out to become an affiliate marketer can be quite a daunting task. After all, where do you start? What product do you choose to promote? Is it best to try several products at once? Where do you find said products? The list of things you need to organise is long a website, link tracking, autoresponders, affiliate links for the products you want to promote. You need to submit your site to search engines, find ways to drive traffic to your site, try to improve your page rankingan affiliate program can be useful simply because it takes you though how to do these things step by step. For those of us who sometimes struggle with organisation, that alone can be worth paying for!

And finally, you might pay for an affiliate program because you need the information. You might not know much about the internet. You might only have heard the words affiliate marketing' for the first time yesterday. You might not even really know what it is. If that's the case, an affiliate marketing program could be the best thing you ever buy. Many are aimed at people who have no idea what affiliate marketing is or how to get started. They simplify everything, making it simple to get started making money through the internet. You could find out all this information on your own, as it is out there but how long would it take you? And what marketing tricks would you miss?

Of course, none of these reasons might apply to you. You might know what affiliate marketing is and have a good idea to get started. You might already know where to find the tools you need and how to use them. You might not mind the idea of making mistakes while you learn or feel so confident that you think you won't make any!

If that's the case, then why should you buy an affiliate marketing program? It won't tell you anything you can't learn yourself through trial and error. But it's perhaps the second of those two words that is the most important error'.

You might not mind wasting time and money on mistakes. You might not mind losing sales through inexperience. It can be a good way to learn and once you have made a costly error, it's not likely that you'll make it again. But most people want to become successful as smoothly as possible, without the set-backs a lack of know-how can cause.

Affiliate programs don't eliminate mistakes. They will not protect you from errors. But they do make the chances of you committing one unknowingly less likely and for that, I say they are worth the money.

Here's Why Affiliate Marketing is so Lucrative

There are people who think of the world as a dreary place simply because they do not find their existence charming enough to render them contented. There are those who wish that they have more than what they possess. There are those who are sick and tired of working hard yet end up having nothing better. There are those who curse the humdrum existence of having 95 jobs that do not give them personal and professional growth. Still these are others who want to earn money without sweating it out too much.

These are the ultimate reasons why more and more people are succumbing to affiliate marketing, one of the many money-making systems that are conceived as a result of the popularity the internet has been generating since it came into being. Since the internet is one of the media with which to view the world and interact with people without getting up from ones seat, it has become one of the most important channels with which to sell a merchants products and wares.

This is the reason why affiliate marketing thrives as a result of the internets popularity. The products and wares which the internet markets get the necessary exposure needed to sell well. This is where the fact that affiliate marketing is a lucrative business comes in. What is intended to be sold is sold because the internet is the best place to sell all these merchandise without the merchant giving too much of an effort to sell them per se.

How does affiliate marketing generate money? The way affiliate marketing works is so simple one would have difficulty believing how such a scheme is able to generate cash. In affiliate marketing, one is introduced to a system where an affiliate, the one who owns the website, agrees to display and advertise other websites that belong, in turn, to a merchant.

The merchant is the one who hopes to generate sales through the affiliates promotion of his website. Once these links are clicked on by other people and a purchase is made, the merchant pays the affiliate a commission. It is by simply promoting other websites through his own that an affiliate is able to earn money for himself in the easiest manner possible.

The principle involved in affiliate marketing can be compared to the type of species interaction in ecology called mutualism where interaction between two species allows both of them to derive benefit from the situation without harming each other. The result is a relationship that allows them to coexist in harmony in the community where they both move. Affiliate marketing allows affiliates to get paid in recognition of what they were able to contribute to the process. Merchants, in turn, are able to have their products advertised and ultimately sold through the efforts provided by the affiliate.

The reason why products advertised by affiliates through their websites generate a lot of sales is because the number of people using the internet is growing every minute. Each and every merchandise advertised through this medium gets all the attention that it could possibly need to be able to convince someone that it is worth the try. This is the ultimate reason why there is money in affiliate marketing. The more links a website promotes, the more chance sales will be generated. The more sales generated, the happier the merchant, and the happier the merchant, the better it is for the affiliate both professionally and financially.

Those who have indulged in affiliate marketing have reached goals and dreams which they were not able to realize under ordinary circumstances. There are even those who have skyrocketed to the top simply because they have dedicated all their time and effort to perfecting their knowledge about this business without even a bit of hesitation. How Being an Affiliate Marketer Can Boost Your Profits?

Affiliate marketing has become one of the most effective ways to advertise online. It is also one of the easiest ways for anyone with a website to make a profit online. Affiliate Marketing is an agreement between a merchant and a website owner. The website owner, or the affiliate, allows the use of their site for the promotion of the merchant's products by linking to the merchant's website. In exchange, the merchant pays a commission to the affiliate on all sales generated by the affiliate. Every time someone clicks on the link on the affiliate website and proceeds to make a purchase, the affiliate gets a commission. The merchant will pay the affiliate only when a customer clicks on the product link and makes a purchase.

Affiliate marketing programs are described as a win-win situation for both the merchant and the affiliate because of the pay-for-performance scheme. Both the merchant and the affiliate enjoy some benefits in affiliate marketing. There are many benefits on the merchant's side. It gives the merchant a wider market in which to advertise a product or service. Affiliate marketing will give the product or service the maximum exposure that it may not get with other traditional advertising techniques. The more affiliate sites a merchant has, the higher the traffic, which can convert to sales. Affiliate marketing is the equivalent of having an army of sales people who will do the advertising and will only get a commission if a customer purchases.

Meanwhile, since an affiliate marketing relationship is a win-win situation, the affiliate also enjoys many benefits. Foremost among these is the easy way to make a profit. The affiliate can earn by having an ad or link to the merchant's website, which prospective customers will hopefully click and proceed to make a purchase. As soon as the customer clicks on the ad on the affiliate's site, is redirected to the merchant's website and goes on to buy that particular product, the affiliate earns a commission. The more referrals there are the more profit for the affiliate.

Affiliate marketing is an excellent way to earn money while at home. There are virtually no production costs. The product is already developed and proven by the merchant, and all you have to do to find, as many prospects as you can that will bring in the profit for both the merchant and the affiliate. Affiliate programs are usually free to join, so affiliates do not have to worry about start-up costs. There are thousands of products and services you can choose from. You can find affiliate programs for every product under the sun. Surely, there is a product or service out there that is relevant to your website.

In addition, there is absolutely no sales experience necessary. Most affiliate programs offer excellent support when it comes to providing marketing material. The simplicity of affiliate marketing allows you to be an affiliate marketer at the least cost and the most comfort. You can even build a successful affiliate marketing business right in the convenience of your own home. In affiliate marketing, your responsibility is simply to find prospects for the merchant; you do not have to worry about inventory, order processing, and product shipping. These, along with customer service support are the duties of the merchant.

Because of the global reach of the internet, you can easily find thousands of prospects. You can intensify your advertising campaign by exploiting more aggressive and productive strategies such as viral marketing. By attracting more prospects, you also maximize your potential to earn. Another benefit of an affiliate marketer is the minimal risk involved. If the product you are advertising is not making money then you can dump it and choose another. There are no long-term binding contracts tying you to products that are not making enough money.

All the same, the best benefit of being an affiliate marketer is the opportunity to increase your income; and you can make a profit even if affiliate marketing is only a sideline business. With your own affiliate business, you can earn easily earn extra income, although you do have to exert effort and use your imagination to maximize your earning potential. Indeed, affiliate marketing is one of the simplest and most effective business opportunities on the web today.

7 Profit Multiplying Trading Strategies of Successful Traders

Would you like to see your trading profits multiply? Are you struggling to squeeze out small profits and reduce losing trades? Here are some tips to help you make better decisions each and every time you trade.

One of the first and foremost strategies of the successful trader is actually having a strategy in the first place! Many new investors mistakenly make decisions based on one day of trading or the release of just one economic indicator report. The more successful traders develop a long-term strategy for their investments and trade only when certain criteria are met. Traders who go back and forth from one strategy to another are sabotaging their chances for success. These erratic changes make it much more difficult to analyze which strategy works and when.

To boost profits, you must employ careful research and long-term planning. Just because the strategy is long-term does not mean you cannot participate in day trading or swing trading. The long-term strategy means developing investment goals and making sure that each trade adheres to these goals. You will also want to develop specific criteria for your trades. Use historical prices as a starting point in developing when you will buy and sell. Write down your entry and exit strategies. Then stick to them at all times and track your results. Lastly, modify the plan as needed to produce the greatest percentage of winning trades as possible.

Successful traders analyze the level of risk that they are willing to assume and their trading strategies are built around this risk level. Evaluate your individual financial needs. A 25-year-old male is much more likely to be willing to assume a higher level of risk than a 40-year-old female with two children to support. Determining the level of risk you are willing to undertake will keep you focused when developing your trading plan.

Research is another power tool in the successful stock traders arsenal. These traders utilize stock charts, press releases, news articles, and other sources to detect trends in various industries as well as to make individual stock predictions. They also do not make their trading decisions based on biases. Make sure that you are relying on solid financials, from a reputable source.

Successful investors stay smart by being aware of the trading scams that abound on the net. From bogus stock purchase programs to promises of doubling or triple didgit returns, there are always dishonest people willing to use the allure of huge profits against you. Dont get scammed out of your hard-earned money. Make sure to avoid any site selling or relating to high yield investment plans, or HYIP for short. If it seems too good to be true, it most likely is.

Finally, understand and being able to utilize current technologies that will help your bottom line in the trading game. New online software and systems can give your trading strategy a boost. If you refuse to learn how to use this technology and availability of information, you are undercutting the profits you stand to make. You could buy many trading courses and still be ahead if you found just one that enables you to multiply your profits and become a successful trader. Keep in mind that the ones that dont work for you will most likely have a money back guarantee.

Lastly, making investment decisions based on emotions is one of the poorest decisions a trader can make. Dont let the emotions surrounding a loss keep you out of the game. If you are truly interested in investing to make a profit, suspending your emotions and making fact-based trading decisions that follow along with your set trading plan. If you dont stick to your plan, then how can you determine whether it was faulty and a new plan should be formed?

Indiana Supreme Court Discusses Proceedings Supplemental

Do you know what proceedings supplemental are? If you are in the business of collecting judgments in Indiana, and from time to time virtually all secured lenders are, then the June 27, 2007 opinion by the Indiana Supreme Court in Rose v. Mercantile National Bank, 2007 Ind. LEXIS 471 provides a great primer on the subject.

Facts of Rose. Plaintiffs sued an S-Corp, and the trial court entered judgment against S-Corp for $159,581. During the litigation, the owners of S-Corp sold the company in an asset sale to Corporation I for $475,000. Corporation I then transferred its rights and obligations under the asset-purchase agreement to Corporation II, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Corporation I. After the sale, the owners of S-Corp deposited the sale proceeds into S-Corps bank account and, within three days, issued checks to themselves for the entire sale price. The closing occurred approximately one month after the trial court entered judgment for Plaintiffs.

About a year later, presumably because the judgment had not been paid, Plaintiffs moved for proceedings supplemental and brought fraudulent transfer claims against S-Corp, Corporation I, Corporation II, and S-Corps owners. Plaintiffs asserted that assets had been transferred out of S-Corp to avoid paying the judgment. During the proceedings supplemental, Plaintiffs sought to amend the complaint to add additional claims and to recover new damages. The result was a new judgment for Plaintiffs for $542,435.49 plus attorneys fees of $162,730. The Indiana Supreme Court affirmed the trial courts finding that the two owners of S-Corp fraudulently transferred assets, but the Court set aside the new claims for new damages.

Proceedings supplemental generally. Proceedings supplemental are designed to help judgment creditors enforce judgments for discovering assets and to set aside fraudulent conveyances. Proceedings supplemental are merely the continuation of an original action. Ind. Trial Rule 69(E) generally governs proceedings supplemental, and the motion is made in the court where judgment was rendered. Discovery is permitted, and a hearing must be conducted, after which certain property is to be applied toward the judgment. Id. at 4-5.

Fraudulent transfer. Judgment creditors often use proceedings supplemental to bring fraudulent transfer actions, the purpose of which is to remove obstacles which prevent the enforcement of the judgment . . . through the levy of execution. The essence of a fraudulent transfer action is not to attack the transfer or to recover damages. Instead, the action is to subject property to execution as though it were still in the name of the grantor. Id at 6-7.

New claims. Unlike Plaintiffs fraudulent transfer claims, Plaintiffs also sought new damages from the S-Corp owners by adding a new cause of action under Indianas Crime Victims Compensation Act, which allows for treble damages and attorneys fees. The Court said this was a no-no: "Allowing a new claim to be tacked on at this stage would be just as unfitting as opening up any other litigation to add new claims after judgment. Such an approach to collections would lay the groundwork for perpetual motion-a far cry from the timely and efficient system of conflict resolution the nations judiciary strives to provide. Proceedings supplemental are appropriate only for actions to enforce and collect existing judgments, not to establish new ones."

Id. at 7. So, a new claim for new damages, and thus the imposition of a new judgment, should be filed in a new lawsuit. On the other hand, any action to assist in collection of an original judgment [like a proceeding supplement] must be filed under the same cause number as the original action. Id.

In addition to addressing the generalities of proceedings supplemental, the Indiana Supreme Court provides clarity for lenders concerning fraudulent transfer actions, which can be appropriately prosecuted in proceedings supplemental or, in other words, in a continuation of the same case and in the same trial court that rendered the judgment. Any new claims or, in other words, actions for separate and distinct damages, however, must be the subject of another lawsuit.

Can Career Training Level the Playing Field?

The United States is well known as a land of opportunity and as a result people from all over the world flock to its shores. However there exists here a class of people who are, sadly, ignored or forgotten. They are typically referred to as inner-city or underprivileged children. Unfortunately this label has almost become a stigmatism instead of a reminder that there are a number of people who need help to attain a more satisfying standard of living. Many of these young people are aware that attending a four year college or university would be a great way to lift them up from poverty. But, as the old saying goes, "It takes money to make money." If you are already poor how can you afford to pay for the astronomical cost of obtaining a college degree? And if you cannot afford to pay for the degree how can you get a well-paying job? These are questions that the disadvantaged regularly have to grapple with and few are finding any worthy answers.

One excellent answer is online career training. Career training is a much more affordable alternative to an expensive college degree. It is training that provides specific yet comprehensive knowledge and skills to a student. All that is needed is a computer and internet access. From there it is up to the student to decide which course or subject matter is most interesting and then enroll. There is no need to drive to a campus and wait in long registration lines. Instead enrollment in a career training course can be done in the privacy of your own home right over the internet. Once your enrollment is accepted your training can begin immediately. Career training allows students to work at an individual pace, thereby getting the most benefit from the training. Upon completion of the training the student is fully prepared to enter the work force and earn a great salary. Since career training is so affordable the student will not be burdened with a lot of debt. In fact the training can be paid in full before the course has been completed. There will not be any huge student loans to pay since career training is much less expensive than a standard university education.

According to the U.S. Department of education, over 80 percent of the fastest-growing jobs require at least some postsecondary education. Career training can provide that necessary additional education. So if you or someone you know needs a helping hand why not look into career training and take advantage of living in the land of opportunity.

Accounting Help Adds To Your Organizational Growth

Every little expense or income can make a difference in the ledger books of a business. It is therefore crucial to maintain accurate accounts of the daily transactions of a business to ensure maximum optimization of resources. An organization often employs well qualified accountants to maintain the daily transactions record. This results in the firm blocking a good amount of human and financial resources in accounting regular business transactions. In these circumstances it would make practical sense for the business to employ outsourced accounting help to maintain the regular accounts. This not only helps in better utilizing the available resources but also ensures accurate maintenance of accounts.

A firm offering accounting help to various organizations must employ professionally qualified accountants who can competently handle the latest accounting software to maintain the financial data of the client. The team of accountants must also be reliable enough to handle sensitive data of the client that includes critical information about the company finances. The accounting help professionals must also be efficient enough to provide a day to day account of the transactions of the organization so that an accurate record of the financial status can be given to the firm at a short notice. The financial analysis and consultancy provided to the client by the firm offering accounting help can prove to be of invaluable assistance while developing business strategies for growth and expansion.

The accounting help firms provide customized services to each and every client that they cater to. So the business house can rest assured that its accounts will be maintained using the same software and processes that the in-house finance division was using earlier. The easily available accounting records at the time of audits and taxation ensures the firm achieves a financial credibility in the market. Even when the firm wants to apply for a loan it is easily sanctioned as the accounting help vendor ensures that each and every transaction is accurately maintained throughout the financial year. Any scrutiny of the financial data can be carried out by the lending house at a short notice.

Day journals, trial balances, profit and loss statements, balance sheet and financial reports formulated on the basis of the accounts statements can seem a daunting task for a firm that has just started out. Even for these small organizations employing accounting help from outsourced vendors might be a good move. The accounting help firm can help any business manage its financial data in many ways starting from the very set up, getting the processes in place and using the apt software that is compatible with the records that need to be maintained. Also outsourcing accounting help will enable a corporate to cut down on their expenditure as the firm would not need to pay employee salary including house and medical allowances and bonus, etc. to the accounting help vendor.

A work overload could result in some discrepancies in the daily accounts as a result of mistake or malice. A business cannot afford to have such mistakes, no matter how minute in their financial records. Hence, employing accounting help would take off the additional burden from the corporate to maintain accounts accurately. A business can therefore concentrate on other areas such as profit generation; growth and expansion when it has outsourced accounting help to give it the competitive edge.

What Writers Must Know about Internet Commerce

Let's assume you're a writer and you want to make money by writing. In the olden days (last year, maybe) you would think up an article idea, hammer a few paragraphs out, and then check with some editors if they were interested in buying a finished product.

If you were lucky, you sold it. If you were not exactly unlucky, the editor rejected your idea but paid you to go out and write something else. And the most common response was a great big bunch of nothing. No response. No answer. No sale.

You have probably heard that a writer can make money on the Internet, but you're probably thinking, "How on earth is that possible?" After all, just about every job offer that comes to writers for Internet type stuff pays less than even a skinflint magazine editor would have paid ten years ago for the same material. The big difference is that the Internet publishers seeking writing support want their content virtually overnight and the old-fashioned editors did not mind giving you a few weeks.

There are two ways to make money on the Internet and they mirror the ways people make money in the brick-and-mortar business world. First, you can sell something. Whether it's ceiling fans or candles or airline tickets, you can make money if you have a product that you can trade to people for cash.

The other way you can make money online is by selling advertising. The best models for this include TV programs, magazines, and newspapers. Take a TV program; it's content that is offered for free to people who want to see it. A newspaper isn't exactly free, but it contains a lot of high-value content from around the world and it's offered at a very nominal fee (less than it costs to print it, I bet) to just about anyone who wants it. They'll even bring it to your house every morning! Who else will deliver for a product that does not even cost a dollar-for no extra shipping and handling fee?

Then there are magazines. They cost more but they're still a great buy considering the content you get, the articles, the pictures, and the sheer volume of printed pages.

So how do these enterprises make money? They do it by offering content that people want and then selling advertisement. TV shows make money because they sell some of their viewing time to advertisers who offer commercials. Newspapers and magazines do take in some subscription money, but the thing that keeps them in business is ad revenue.

And how do advertisers manage to survive? Smart businesses know the best opportunities for their particular type of advertisements. There's a whole science to that. If a well-placed smart commercial on a certain TV show increases sales, then everybody wins. The company earns money because the ad draws customers; the TV show earns money because it sells time (and eyeballs) to the advertiser.

You can build a website that features lots of top-quality content and then sell advertising on that site.

Now you can't just throw up any old site (and the operative word here is "throw up") and figure that advertising will work. You need a quality product. You also have to offer something of value.

That's where the good news comes in: you're a writer.

You can create your own online magazine of sorts. The goal is to attract people interested in the same subject to look at your site. There's a whole science to that, too. But if you do it right, people on your site may be interested in ads on related subjects.

The Internet is all about niches. Let's say you want to write about dogs. Bad idea. It's too broad for the Internet. With the Internet you have to think narrow. You could write about dog training. Or adopting poodles from the pound. Or photographing dogs.

The idea is that your highly targeted information will resonate with a particular subset of readers. With billions of Internet search a year, you don't need to have broad appeal to get a big audience.

Then you sell advertising. Now in the traditional business model, that meant pounding the pavement, talking to potential advertisers, and often working with them to get an ad finalized. Then you had to hound them for payment.

On the Internet, you can sign up with search providers to put ads on your site. These ads (offered by the big search engines) use electronic algorithms to automatically match ads by content to your site so that your dog training site won't offer ads for gastric bypass surgery. You don't sell a single ad: you merely clear some room for Google or Yahoo to put ads on your site. They match the ads to your content.

In the print world of our ancient ancestors, an advertiser paid if his ad ran, regardless of whether anyone responded. Internat ads work on a different model; they run for free and the advertiser pays only when somebody clicks on them. This is what is meant when they say advertisers pay for clicks.

The good news is that you can find qualified advertisers and start generating ad revenues from a website pretty quickly without ever having direct contact with your advertisers.

You can also get advertisers the old-fashioned way by selling space on your site to individual vendors. Those arrangements are worked out individually.

Savvy Internet entrepreneurs can make money either selling products (including electronic products like e-books or online courses and now even online audios) or selling advertising or a bit of both. There are strategies for what to use and how, but those are the basics.

So what exactly does this mean for us writers? Writers need to start thinking about what they write not just in terms of how to tell the story, but how to best position the content in the marketplace.

If you can set up a wholesale arrangement with local or even international vendors, you can sell products using a "shopping cart" type website, lots of photos, and some cool product descriptions.

If you have the expertise (or can get it) and can write about how to beat a speeding ticket, land a job working on a cruise ship, or sell your home without a real estate agent, you can write electronic content (e-book, e-course, other materials that are delivered online including audios and videos) and sell that.

First, of course, you have to understand how these kinds of enterprises actually function. Even some off-the-wall business angles are good to study, because the same principles always apply. You target a specific niche market, develop content to attract visitors, and then sell either advertising, products, or both.

Understanding Corporations, Limited Liability Companies (LLCs) and Limited Partnerships

The best way to understand a corporation, limited liability company (or even a limited partnership) is to realize that each creates a special legal relationship or privilege between the business owner(s) and the government. These areas of government include:

1) State Government (including state taxing authorities and the state court system)

2) The Federal Government (specifically the IRS and the Bankruptcy court system)

You may be saying, alright Darius, I still dont understand what you mean by a relationship or privilege. The best way that I can put it is this:

A business entity is a legal relationship which allows for certain privileges. When teaching people about entities, I like refer to an often forgotten fact: In England during the colonial period the ability to create a corporation required an exclusive grant (i.e., permission) from the Crown (thats right the King or the Queen!). Remember a business entity is a privilege!

HERE IS ANOTHER TIDBIT: Did you know that WHEN the original 13 colonies were established, many were actually corporations or similar form. For example, the Maryland Company was used to settle and developyou guessed it, the State of Maryland. Other examples include, the Virginia company, the Massachusetts company and others. Why would someone use an entity to explore and colonize the New World? The reason is that colonization and exploration were risky investments. Ships were lost at sea, diseases ended the lives of thousands, and a host of other risks were present with each expedition.

By setting up these expeditions as corporations investors could contribute money but were only be liable for the amount invested. In other words, these early arrangements promoted exploration, development, and commerce by limiting liability for investors. The same reasoning is true today. When liability is limited to what you contribute to a business, people are more likely to start businesses. THE REASON: Less risk if everything goes wrong BUT more to GAIN when things go RIGHT!

The point of these historical facts is to make it clear that the purpose of a business entity is to limit the liability of owners/investors to the amount contributed to the business. These facts should also make you realize that liability protection is a privilege.

WHY SHOULD YOU BE CONCERNED ABOUT LIABILITY PROTECTION?

I am not here to scare youbut use common sense. Real estate businesses require you to deal with numerous parties, including: TENANTS, SELLERS, PARTNERS, INVESTORS, LENDERS, MANAGEMENT COMPANIES, INDEPENDENT CONTRACTS, EMPLOYEES, and others. The more parties you deal with the more likely it is that something may not go as planned.

The first step is to learn how to run your business in fair and careful mannerso that you reduce the chances of getting sued. Always remember this: A business entity (LLC, corporation or limited partnership) is not an excuse to act in a careless or negligent manner. You need to be fair when dealing with all parties and you need to outline agreements with partners, vendors, contractors, etc. You need to respond to tenants complaints regarding rental property. In short you need to become a MASTER good business practices. I spend a considerable about of time in my courses covering a topic I call LAWSUIT AVOIDANCE 101. This means that we teach you good business practices to help you reduce the risk of getting sued. ITS SIMPLY SO IMPORTANT!

Another issue to keep in mind is that since you will be dealing with TENANTS, SELLERS, PARTNERS, INVESTORS, LENDERS, MANAGEMENT COMPANIES, INDEPENDENT CONTRACTS, EMPLOYEES, COUNTY AGENTS, you may get into the position where you will need to assert your rights. In other words, you may need to take another person to court, because your rights have been violated, a contract has been broken, or money has not been paid to you. Many times when you assert your rights, you may then be sued by the party you are taking to court. I know this sounds harshbut it happens! This is called a cross claim and it means that the party who is being sued is now also suing. Usually this happens because the other partys attorney believes that they have a claim and/or they will be in a better position using a cross claim. Basically this means that for you TO ASSERT YOUR OWN RIGHTS, YOU MAY RISK GETTING SUED.

ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS: There are also steps you can take to allow more chances for a pre-lawsuit settlement. This makes the lawsuit truly a last resort. Ask this question: Do you have alternative dispute resolution clauses in your agreements? Obviously, if you can settle matters outside of court via an alternative dispute resolution method, then may be a big advantage and a savings of time and money. An alternative dispute resolution clause will require parties to work at settling a claim through mediation or another non-litigious (and less expensive) manner. Again, a lawsuit should be the absolute last resort. We cover all of these areas in more detail for investors because it something that most people and even some attorneys leave out!

There are also tax advantages and disadvantages to recognize when selecting an entity for your business. We will discuss these in later articles.

To learn more about which entity may be best for you and how to create, run, and maintain an iron clad LLC or corporation, you dont need a grant from the King or Queenbut you should see Mr. Barazandehs, Incorporate for Wealth and Wealth Building LLC courses at www.theinformedinvestor.com and www.attorneysecrets.com.

Let's Make Some Money!

One of the downsides of living on the coast as I do is the winter. Whilst I get to see some of the best weather the UK has to offer, I also get to see the worst. We are not even close to the main winter months yet but I have still spent the last couple of days holed up at home watching some spectacular storms over the sea and 'enjoying' force 8 winds battering my house! Some of the more crazy locals chose to windsurf in the incredibly rough sea but given that I managed to crack a rib a few weeks ago windsurfing in next to no wind, I figured I would give it a miss :-) It looks as though the summer sun has been and gone for another year.....

On the plus side, as we creep into the autumn/winter months many business owners will be heading towards their busiest time of the year. This is especially the case if you are in retail of some kind as the run up to Christmas should, ideally, mean that you will be rushed off your feet for the next two or three months.

Every year I start to see the same signs around the end of September/beginning of October and this year is no different:

My wholesale search engines start to serve noticeably more search results each day.

My wholesale directory sites start to attract more visitors and members.

I start getting more and more emails with wholesale-related questions.

General online activity increases as buyers start to think about purchasing Christmas presents and sellers start to offer suitable purchase options.

Of course, many retailers will have been thinking about how they will approach the Christmas rush for months already but if you haven't, there is still plenty of time to jump on the bandwagon and make some cash!

eBay still offers one of the best online opportunities for anyone wanting to start selling stock on the Internet. When I traded on eBay my sales during November and the beginning of December always used to skyrocket. One of the main reasons for this was that I chose to sell relatively low cost products (less than 20) which were ideal for people to give as Christmas gifts. Often time I was only making a few pounds profit on each item but because I was able to sell so many of them, the overall profit became substantial.

Of course, eBay isn't your only option and indeed, you don't have to restrict your trading to the Internet either. Going back fifteen years or so, I worked in a large office of around 100 staff for a major UK bank. I didn't have the luxury of the Internet back then but that didn't stop me making a few quid at Christmas. Instead of selling online, I would simply buy some stock and sell it to my work colleagues - it saved them trawling around the shops and my prices were cheaper too!

If you work with a large number of other people, this might be a perfect way for you to make a bit of extra money this year? Remember, the Internet isn't the 'be all and end all' - the offline world does still exist :-)

And if you are keen to get started right away, forget about Christmas for a bit and concentrate on Halloween! Fancy dress is getting bigger and bigger in the UK and we have access to a huge fancy dress costume supplier with superb costumes from just a few pounds each! Last year I needed a fancy dress costume for Halloween and left it until the last minute to order and ended up really struggling to find something suitable as everywhere had sold out. No doubt demand will be just as great this year so why not take advantage of it?

If you want to make some money from the Christmas rush, you need to start taking action NOW! Don't let the opportunity pass you by because it's a long time to wait until next year...

Make Your Money Work For You

Do you want to know the real truth about how to get wealthy? The answer is very simple. All you need to do is make your money work for you, instead of you having to work for your money.

Talk to all the people who have become wealthy and I bet theyll all tell you that they make their money work for them. They may not have started out with any money but they learned that if they were smart with what money they did earn they could make it work for them instead of the other way around. This rule does not discriminate. Every one has an equal chance to do this and it is never too late to start.

Why hasnt someone explained this to you before you ask? Why didnt you learn this at school? You are probably like the majority of people who went to school. You went to learn how to get a job and work for money for the rest of your life. Wouldnt you rather have been taught how to make your money work for you? Did any of your teachers show you how to do this. Not likely. They probably didnt know how to do it either.

You were probably told from a very early age to get a good education so that you could get a good job. This good job would assure you of a steady income for the rest of your life. If you were lucky, and got a really good job where you earned lots of money, then you might be able to save up enough money for the deposit on a house. Then you could spend the rest of your life paying off your mortgage and hopefully have a few dollars left to save for your retirement.

Did anyone tell you that by the time you get around to retiring, your savings probably wont go very far. Forget about a pension because there probably wont be one by the time you retire. Well, if thats the case then once you retire it wont be too hard to have to start scrimping and economizing as youve done that all your life anyway so you are well qualified. Your only worry now is that you hope that your money wont run out before you do.

Well before its too late, just how do you go about making your money work for you? Well there are dozens of ways you can do this. The first thing you need to do is find out from the experts how they do it. You need to be prepared to start educating yourself on the different options that are available out there.

Avoid the Opportunity Trap

Picking a business opportunity seems relatively trivial on the web. The amounts of money are generally not huge indeed some of them are effectively free; the provider has other ways of getting paid. However, pick the wrong opportunity at the start and you can pretty much write off your web future. The reasons: you lose time, your energy level drops, and your emotions play havoc with you. The vast bulk of people simply drop out leaving their dreams on the mat. But it doesn't need to be so.

There are 7 Rules for picking an opportunity

1. Is the supplier reputable? Is it a scam? In the offline world, there are all kinds of ways of assessing whether a business is a scam, on the web it's not so simple. Check out the opportunity on the scam sites. But even quicker if you are a member of a traffic exchange and you try to advertise the opportunity you will find out almost instantly if it's a scam. The other members will tell you in no uncertain terms!.

2. What is the nature of the business? How do you make money out of it? How complete and sophisticated is it? Is it an affiliate opportunity, network marketing, MLM, or what? In some cases it will be a hybrid of different things: Empowerism is an email business, with MLM and network marketing at its core and a couple of investment vehicles thrown in. Plug-in Profits is an affiliate marketing business using MLM opportunities and residual income thinking. Try hard to understand it before you buy in.

3. Can you explain it in simple terms? The absolute best businesses are very simple at core. Try this. Imagine you have to explain what you are doing to your elderly mother or grandmother. She is going to tell her friends about it and you'd better get it right! So your e-book business: "I write "How to.." books and sell them over the Internet". Your gambling site: "I run a casino on the internet". Your affiliate site: "I sell products (specify theme) on the Web". Your network marketing opportunity: .well you get the idea. The aim is to get the statement very crisp and clear so that you know what you are doing! If you cannot squeeze it down ("I sell second hand golf balls to . across the web"), then you probably don't understand it or it is too complicated. You certainly will not be able to explain it to your customers!

4. Does it fit your personality? Can you generate a passion for it? If you're in business strictly to make money, you may succeed but the chances that you won't are very high. Businesses that are in it for the money tend to chase the latest big idea', they get unfocused, confused and become unprofitable. Select something you care about and remember the rule "You care about something when your mind returns to it in idle moments", this will help you decide if you really care.

5. Can the organizer make money out of it? Is it stable over the long haul? There are few things worse than investing time and energy in an opportunity that is going to die. Ask yourself if the opportunity generates money for the seller: this seems silly. You are often paying to get into something. But a one time payment for a business opportunity is rarely a recipe for long term stability. The seller should be driving long term income from it: classics are hosting fees, affiliate fees and royalties from compulsory products, upgrade fees and so on. Ask yourself how they are going to stay in business. If the answer is not obvious: don't touch it.

6. How does it make money? How do you make money out of it? How much? What are the projected returns? How certain are they? The question to you is how much you, specifically, can make with your skills, time and energy? A high yielding investment program may guarantee' 12% per month until it collapses. An affiliate mall may make nothing unless you are very active in promoting it. What experience do you have in doing something like this; can you be sure of earning anything? Or is this a learning exercise?

7. Can you afford it? Does it require investment? If so, how much? What are the exit costs? I have left the money angle until close the end, because for the vast bulk of web opportunities the money investment is not high. If you are going into a network marketing opportunity you may have to invest $2,000 to $5,000US in inventory and other stuff, but most businesses are tilted to folk with very few financial resources. Additionally, in many business opportunities the costs are monthly, so they are spread out and in theory you can pay them out of profits. The true costs tend to come in generating traffic. However, that said, no web business is free and you should be prepared for low thousands of costs (even if paid out of profits) if you are trying to build something significant.

The last thoughtbe brutally honest with yourself. Are you serious or a hobbyist? With the web becoming more professional, hobbyists mostly don't win

Network Vs. Affiliate Marketing

Running a traditional brick and mortar kind of business with an online presence, is obviously one very good way to make at least part of your living online. But for the purposes of this article we are going to assume that you do not have your own business. So I am going to discuss two of the biggest online money makers right now: online business opportunities and affiliate marketing.

Network marketing

The typical online business opportunity is commonly built around some sort of network marketing concept, inheriting the basic qualities of the offline business model that has been available for many decades - the basic idea being that you recruit two or more people, who in their turn recruit two and in this way your efforts will (at least in theory) be greatly leveraged.

The main difference doing this online is that, utilizing the power of the Internet, you as a network marketer can literally reach people all over the planet.

The problem with the network marketing, or "mlm", concept is that it sounds so good on paper - way too good in fact. Most people who joins up with a company of this type tend to get a dose of Mr. Reality rather soon.

They discover that recruiting new people, which is what all mlm is all about - even if they try to tell you differently - is not at all a simple process. There has been plenty of fraudulent businesses in this niche, and people tend to stay on their toes as soon as they hear the words mlm or network marketing.

To further complicate things this business model is also based on you paying a set monthly fee - wether you make any money or not, which means that many people who start this kind of business actually end up loosing money.

It is definitely possible to make a good living in network marketing, but it is definitely not for everybody. "Getting in on the ground floor" is allegedly not always as good as it seems.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is similar to network marketing, in the sense that you will be promoting a product produced by another company or person. This can obviously make life very simple for you, as the merchant will usually take care of all shipping and customer support issues. Amazon.com is probably one of the most well known (an respected) companies utilizing the power of affiliate partnerships.

As an affiliate, your task is simply to refer new clients to the merchant and when these people go ahead and buy something, you get credited with a certain percentage of the sale.

Contrary to network marketing it is generally free to act as an affiliate marketer. Although there are certain companies that have sort of a hybrid structure between network and affiliate marketing - requiring you to pay a start-up and/or monthly fee to market their products. Most affiliate programs are completely free to join though, so I'd personally stay away from those using their affiliate programs as an income generator in it's own right, or "affiliate sharks" as one marketer aptly named them.

Affiliate programs are thus a great way in which almost anyone can start to make money online, without having to invest a lot of money, if indeed any at all.

There is however certain strategies and marketing methods you need to be knowledgeable of, if you are to make anything but peanuts with your affiliate marketing.

Choosing the right affiliate program and promoting it to the right people in the right way is an art form in it's own right. And the people who are really good at this, generally referred to as "super affiliates", make a very good living doing nothing else than selling other people's products.

If you are looking to make an additional income from the Internet, or eventually even replace your current income altogether, affiliate marketing is a great way to get started. To achieve the success you desire, you should study and learn the same techniques super affiliates use on a day to day basis.

Andreas Sundstrom has made a full time living online for the past six years, largely thanks to the power of free affiliate programs. At his website http://www.webhosting-tips.info/affiliate/ he will share some of the most important super affiliate secrets.Muriel Blog40030

Pay Per Sale Affiliate Programs - Still The Best Option For Advertisers?

Pay per sale affiliate programs have been around since the beginning of the affiliate marketing business, and due to it's obvious fairness, it is still a popular commission model. The number of programs offering this commission model are plenty, far more than any other model available online.

The reasons for its popularity are many, but a big reason is advertisers full control over the margins. With any other commission mode, the advertiser needs to calculate the conversion ratio, number of sales and size of purchases very carefully to eliminate the risk of overpaying for clicks, leads or impressions. With the PPS model, advertisers know they will only pay a specific percentage of each sale, making every new affiliate - no matter how successful - will contribute to the revenue of the affiliate program.

Advertisers using other commission models stand a much greater risk of having a new affiliate join, only to see him send nothing but non-converting traffic, thus getting paid for nothing. PPC, PPL and PPM are also much more open for fraud, often in the form of auto-generated visitors (i.e. from a script) or other ways of generating impression, clicks or in some cases even leads. For newly started affiliate programs, showing limited cash flow, other commission models can prove hard in the beginning. Often it takes a while to get the ball rolling, and paying for anything but sales can cost a bit of money before you get some back. Be sure to calculate how long you can afford to pay for a certain amount of visitors if no one actually converts into a buying visitor.

There will of course be plenty of referred visitors who converts into sales, but there are no guarantees. If you where to use a PPS model, paying ONLY For sales, you would never have to pay a commission unless you are seeing a positive cash flow. This is true for the affiliate program as a whole, as well as on an individual affiliate level. They won't get paid until they actually makes a sale, thus making the advertiser money in the process.

Some affiliate programs offer a fixed commission instead of a percentage, and if the commission is the same on sales for different amounts, the percentage will differ from one sale to another. Try to find an approximate percentage of commission to calculate the expected revenue for each affiliate sale. Calculating the minimum and maximum revenue is important as well, in order to keep track of the revenue of the affiliate program and its commission model.

Your Career in 2007 Get a Fresh Start

As the New Year approaches, have you thought about your career goals? What worked to years ago in planning and managing your career will not work for your career development in the 21st Century. Managing your career in the 21st Century requires preparation, career goal planning and career guidance and ensuring that your time is directed meaningfully.

Here is how to find enjoyment and continue to progress in your career.

1. Determine if your present job is in line with who you are, what you value, and what you are good at. Are you really doing what you want to do? Being self-aware means you become clear about what you stand for and what you have to offer. When you know what you have to offer, you become more powerful and intentional in your work. Doing a good job is no longer good enough to guarantee your career will go well. You are your most important asset. Self-branding provides direction and clarity of purpose for how you work, not just what you do for a living.

2. Identify your job satisfiers and dissatisfiers. Find a way to do more of the tasks/projects that you enjoy.

3. Identify your accomplishments.

4. Take the time to build and maintain relationship with individuals who might impact your work. You will benefit personally and professionally from the time you invest in such relationships.

5. Determine and write down your vision for your professional life. What actions do you need to take that will get you there? Celebrate the steps you take daily to achieve your vision. You can create the life you want! Here are some ways you can do that:

* Keep work in perspective - remember how you left work on time in the summer?

* Manage your stress - identify what causes you stress and how it affects you.

* Take time out - close your door (if you have one), call forward your phone, turn off your e-mail, take a walk. Use this time "during your work day" to prepare for a big meeting, a presentation or work on a project.

* Delegate - are you spending too much time on the administrative process of your job and not utilizing your skills to benefit your long-term goals and your company's goals?

* Work/Play Balance - what did you enjoy doing during the summer that you want to continue (going to the movies, playing tennis, volunteering, spending time with your kids, seeing friends, etc.)? Put it on your schedule.

6. Be Bold! Dont be afraid to take on some responsibilities in positions above you. Aim to always exceed expectations.

7. Manage your own time. Set boundaries. Learn to say "no" to non-essential use of your time.

8. Look for way to do things better, and more efficiently. Change a routine task - develop a new process. Instead of handling your e-mails as you get them, set aside specific times during the day to respond.

9. Be great at what you do. The knowledge and skill that create success in your current job will position you for your next move.

10.Be aware of roadblocks that can limit your potential to move upward.

11.Take on projects that will most likely benefit you.

12.Have passion for what you are doing and working toward. You will automatically put more effort into it. If you are not feeling passionate about your work ask yourself: is what you should be doing interfering with what you want to be doing?

Remember! Your career must contribute to your life, not the other way around!
